To The Overcomers

It’s not just a song title. It’s a spiritual truth.

God has great rewards for those of us who persevere through these trials we face. He says that He will establish the steadfast man and make him a “pillar in the temple”. To the man who demonstrates his stalwart faith, God will bless that person and use him mightily to further the kingdom of Heaven! This man will be unwavering, a spiritual foundation strengthened by experience. You can come to him and receive solid Biblical counsel. You may be wondering where to find one of these pillars of faith. Just look into the mirror!

Okay, so maybe you don’t see him yet. But he’s down there! In one of my previous posts I talked about chipping away at everything that doesn’t look like God. Well, this is the same concept. Though you may not be a pillar yet, you still have the potential to be! Train and groom yourself to become one of these steadfast men. Learn the Bible inside and out; meditate upon it day and night! Strive to imitate your Heavenly Father more and more.

God is freely offering you the power to overcome every obstacle in your life. No matter how big, or how tall, or how unconquerable they seem, God has already defeated it! And He’s offering you the power to do likewise, if only you’ll use it. You already have the power dwelling within you to overcome anything which you’ll face in this life. What delineates a man as a pillar is his resolve and drive to overcome.

This determination to live for God and give Him wholly the glory and honor is what separates the pillars from the pebbles. The pebble just sits on the ground and lets satan walk over him. The pillar, however, refuses to give satan a single victory. He strives to overcome every obstacle, because he knows that inside is the same power which created the universe, helping him to overcome absolutely everything. And it’s the overcomers who are richly rewarded by God for their strivings. Becoming a pillar does not happen overnight. But it begins with a step. Will you start with that?

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.” ~ Revelation 3:12
