Chips

You may be thinking, “Yeah, here’s another teen talking about his favourite junk food.” But in fact, it’s quite the opposite. It’s a young man discussing a very important life concept. Allow me to elucidate further.

Michelangelo once said “The perfect statue is already there within the block of marble. I simply chip away the excess.” Jesus, our master sculptor, is said to be doing the very same thing in Second Corinthians 3:18. Take note that the original Greek for this word “transform” is pronounced “metamorphoo”, and is also used in Matthew 17:2 & Mark 9:2.

If you haven’t noticed already, life holds many trials and tribulations. These come not to make us fall and show us how frail we are, but to build our faith and teach us an important lesson about how we should be. Each trial has a lesson. I can’t tell you what you’re supposed to learn from a given situation: it may vary from person to person.

But the important thing is that you do learn! You are bending your will to that of the Master Sculptor and submitting to His chisel. You are saying “I know that You, my Father, know what’s best for my life. I surrender to you and let you take a chip out of what is not of You. Please give me the strength and will to let myself be shaped by Your loving hands. In Your holy and precious name, amen.”

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ~2 Corinthians 3:18
