Foundations

We all need something to put our trust in. For some, it’s cars, money, or other people. But cars die, money wastes away, and people fail us. So what remains for us to put our trust in?

Life is too tumultuous to continue without a foundation. The waves are crashing and breaking, soaking us and tossing us about. We need something we can put our faith and trust on to carry us through hard times.

But what? What alone has stood the test of time, and proven itself a worthy foundation for our faith? Isaiah tells us the answer in the 16th verse of chapter 28. “So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.“”

There you have it. What is a firm foundation? Christ. “A tested stone”, and “a precious cornerstone”. The one who trusts in this foundation will never be dismayed.

“So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.”” ~ Isaiah 28:16
