Driving

In Central California there is a stretch of freeway about 150, 200 miles long that is in a complete straight line, called the I5. No lie: there are NO turns of significance in over 150 miles. It can be a long and boring stretch of road, both for the passengers and the driver.

But, in this case, it can also be helpful, say, to a young driver learning freeway driving. Yes, me. I drove for about an hour and fifteen minutes yesterday on our return trip from Los Angeles. In between attempting to stay between those annoying white lines and dodging semi trucks (and trying not to freak out), I used my free brain power to meditate upon a very helpful verse: Psalm 91:11.

In all we do, God has us covered. When we rise in the morning, or settle on the far side of the sea, or drive in a car with a first-time freeway driver, God has us protected. He doesn’t let anything happen that He hasn’t already seen, planned, and worked out in the end.

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” ~ Psalm 91:11
