Kneepads

What are knee- and elbow-pads for? To keep one from scraping their elbows when they fall. Wearing these pads isn’t an automatic guarantee that you won’t fall. Instead it’s the reassurance that if and when you do fall, you won’t be down for good.

The same thing applies to us Christians. David writes, in Psalm 37, that although we fall, we are not down for good. Just like we wear kneepads for safety, God’s hand protects us when we stumble in our spiritual walk. His hand shields us from getting battered and scraped up. So although we fall, we will never be down for good, because God holds us up.

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” ~ Psalm 37:24
