Destiny

At some point, we have all wondered about our purpose here on earth. Life sometimes seems so empty and meaningless, and we find ourselves aimlessly wandering through each day like a hiker lost in the forest—confused, lonely, and fretful. In an attempt to console ourselves, we say things like “there must be more to life” and “we must be missing something”. If life is a vapor that appears for a short time and then vanishes, what then really is the purpose of life? What is our inevitable destiny—to stumble through our days as if marooned on some strange planet, or are we called to a higher purpose? The answer lies in One Man.

In chapter twelve of the Gospel of John, Jesus Christ says, “I am come into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” Jesus came to redeem us, cleanse us from all sin, and provide a way to spend eternity with Him.

Without Christ’s presence, life is empty and void of any meaning. Jesus is the only way through which we can find salvation, and true peace and happiness. With Him, life becomes more than drudgery—more than something merely endured. It becomes a brief journey toward a blessed eternity with your Savior. True, there will be trials, and at times the world will appear to be collapsing around you, but as a loving and caring Father, God will never leave, nor forsake you—that’s a promise.

There are many other promises for the Children of God. In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul tells how to become a part of this family. “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” To accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and seal your destiny in Him, you need only to pray this simple prayer: “Father, I turn from my sin and come back to you. I accept Jesus Christ as your one and only son. I accept the forgiveness offered through Jesus’ death and resurrection. I place my faith in You and receive You as my Lord and Savior. Let today be the day I start my journey toward eternity with You. Please help me to know and follow hard after You. Thank you for welcoming me back with open arms. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
