"TIS"

March has passed, April is just around the corner. And we all know what that means! April showers, May flowers, and cycling training! Yep, after a winter of apathy and inactivity, the first Century ride of the year is quickly rolling around the corner on April 30th. Armed with my brand new bike, new helmet, and good ‘ol jersey, I’m set to start hitting the hills thrice weekly (maybe more) for training rides.

Muscles play an important part in cycling. They require strengthening from consistent and persistent exercise. And there’s only one way to do this: TIS, or Time In the Saddle. The only way to prepare is, well, to go out and do it!

Our faith is like this, too. It is a muscle which needs regular exercise and strengthening to prevent atrophy and degeneration. And as with cycling, there’s only one way to accomplish this: going through hard times.

Let’s face it, this is inevitable. Storms come to shape us and test our faith. Rarely do we deliberately ask for them, though. But to keep our faith strong, we must build it by going through these trials—and sometimes asking for them.

So when these storms of life come upon you, stop. Stop and ask God what He wants you to learn through it. Then go forward, knowing you are in His hand and exercising your muscle of faith.

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1
